This is a new twist on orientation:
Just weeks after the University of California, Berkeley made national headlines by asking incoming undergraduates to submit genetic samples for an orientation program about the emerging field of personalized medicine, Bay Area rival Stanford University said Monday that it will offer DNA analysis to some of its students this summer.

I don't see any harm in asking students to submit genetic samples. It's really no different (if not better...) than what they do here at Bridgewater in the humanities. In many Psychology courses, students are forced to participate in studies. At least these genetic samples are voluntary.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine if they find something like there is no way your parents are your parents or they match a DNA sample to a wanted criminal!!
ReplyDeleteI think about the future implications. I think DNA information should be treated with the same care as all other health related records.
